Amazing redesign

5.0
We had a 2015 Enclave and absolutely loved it. The quiet ride and comfort was great. The technology was lacking but we had the AWD for safety with driving in bad weather. Gas mileage for 3 years averaged 19MPG. Now we upgraded to the 2018 Premium and wow, what an upgrade. The ride is smoother and quieter which we didnt think was possible. More 1st row space, comfy seats, great technology package, push button parking brake, electrical folding 3rd row seats, and the 9-speed transmission really helps the acceleration which was lacking in the 2015. Its an amazing car and you should really test drive it. My wife and I are hooked. The only drawback so far is the 3rd row headrests. The block some sight lines when changing lanes. I just put those down and problem solved.…
Impressed

I did not want to purchase a GM product, but since the Enclave is the only CUV on the market which actually has usable 3rd row seating space and also decent cargo room behind the 3rd row, I decided to take a chance. So far I've been impressed.
Pros: The ride and handling are very smooth and controlled, the power is sufficient, there are many advanced safety features, the materials are generally high-quality, the fit and finish are good, the tech features are useful, the infotainment screen is responsive, passenger seating is roomy, it's very quiet, and I like the interior and exterior styling.
Cons: I enjoy the handling so much that I look for opportunities to drive, it's really that good, but I find the transmission to be less smooth than I expected. It tends to hunt around a bit and produces noticeable downshifts during deceleration. Then there is the idiotic gear shifter which has you hold a button and push forward and to the side to shift into reverse; a very poor ergonomic design and just not pleasant to use. Also, there are some lower-quality interior parts, there is almost no ambient interior lighting, and there is no button to turn off the engine stop/start function (which does not save any appreciable amount of gas and subjects the engine to thousands more start cycles than normal. Fortunately it can be deactivated by installing an aftermarket module).
Summary: Although it has some minor shortcomings, the positives far outweigh the negatives and I've been very pleased overall.…

safety features are great to aide in driving safely. Helps make up for an aging driver reactions and vision. Comfortable suspension ! Plenty of space ! Driver seat could be more comfortable ! Chrome on dash glares in outside rearview mirror distorting image ! I placed black electrical tape over the offending strip of chrome ! In total it is a fine auto , but I will be more discerning on the seat comfort.…
